Applying Credits and Debits
Prompt credit application is essential for all debit memos and invoices, regardless of status (funded or non-funded). You can:
- Apply a credit to multiple debits.
- Apply a debit to multiple credits.

When you select a payment for a customer who uses auto apply, a message gives you the option to either accept the system's debit selections or manually select a debit.
- View the system-selected debits in Pending Applications.
- Do one of the following:
- To use auto apply, click Yes and then click Apply.
- To manually apply, click No and continue using the manual debit selection process.

ACCESS
- Dashboard > Snapshot > click the Open Credits amount > click a transaction's balance
- A/R Activity > View All Open Credits (left navigation pane) > click a transaction's balance
NOTE
You cannot access this page for payments in Suspense. You must assign a customer to the payment first.

You can apply a credit to one or multiple debits at once.
- From the Resolve Credit page, in the Outstanding Debits list, select the check boxes for the debits to which the credit is being applied.
- In the Pending Applications list, confirm or edit the application amount for each debit.
- Note the Remaining Credit amount, which becomes $0.00 when the entire credit is applied.
- Click Apply.
- Click Yes to confirm and post the application. If the credit is fully applied, it no longer appears in the unapplied credits list. Debits that have been fully resolved no longer appear in the Outstanding Debits list.

You can apply a credit to one or multiple debits at once.
- From the Resolve Credit page, in the Outstanding Debits list, click the Debit Customer list to select a different customer for which the credit should be applied.
- In the Customer Confirmation, click Yes to split the payment.
- In the Outstanding Debits list, select the check boxes for the debits to which the credit is being applied.
- In the Pending Applications list, confirm or edit the application amount for each debit.
- Note the Remaining Credit amount, which becomes $0.00 when the entire credit is applied.
- Click Apply.
- In the Split Confirmation, click Yes to acknowledge that you are applying the credit for a different customer. If the credit is fully applied, it no longer appears in the unapplied credits list. Debits that have been fully resolved no longer appear in the Outstanding Debits list.

ACCESS
Any transaction list > click an invoice's Number

- Select an invoice from any transaction list.
- From Transaction Details, click Apply Transaction.
- From Resolve Debit, under Outstanding Credits, select the check boxes for credits to apply to the invoice.
- In the Pending Applications list, confirm or edit the application amounts for each credit.
- Note the Remaining Debit amount, which becomes $0.00 when the entire debit is applied.
- Click Apply.
- Click Yes to confirm and post the application.

- Select an invoice from any transaction list.
- From Transaction Details, click Apply Transaction.
- From the Resolve Debit page, in the Outstanding Credits list, click the Credit Customer list to select a different customer for which the debit should be applied.
- In the Customer Confirmation, click Yes to split the payment.
- In the Outstanding Credits list, select the check boxes for the credits to which the debit is being applied.
- In the Pending Applications list, confirm or edit the application amount for each credit.
- Note the Remaining Debit amount, which becomes $0.00 when the entire debit is applied.
- Click Apply.
- In the Split Confirmation, click Yes to acknowledge that you are applying the debit for a different customer.
